Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
Text entered in a search tool, such as a name or case number, is sent directly to the outside provider that powers that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. Dallas County Court Docket does not retain or log those query terms on its own servers. The provider's privacy terms govern its processing.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, we retain the message and contact details needed to respond. We keep that correspondence within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation. Do not send private case documents, financial identifiers, dates of birth, or other sensitive records that are not needed for the question.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers and service providers receive routine technical information when a page loads. That information helps deliver the website, measure performance, and diagnose faults.
- Your device's Internet Protocol address
- Browser name, version, device type, and operating system
- Pages viewed and the length of each visit
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time associated with page requests
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand aggregate traffic, including which pages are useful and where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies. Some website functions may respond differently when cookies are disabled.
What We Do With This Data
Information collected through ordinary use supports operation of the Dallas County resource. We may use it for the following purposes:
- Delivering pages reliably and improving load times
- Routing a search request to the selected partner service
- Measuring which information visitors use
- Finding, investigating, and correcting technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Court-Record Data on File
Dallas County Court Docket does not host, compile, maintain, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Dallas County District Clerk, Dallas County Clerk, District Courts, lower courts, municipal courts, and official search systems. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Texas court-record access does not rest on one broad public-information rule. Texas Government Code § 552.0035 places judiciary access under applicable law and Supreme Court rules. Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 governs judicial records while distinguishing them from case records controlled by other rules or statutes. Civil redaction and sealing are addressed by Texas Rules of Civil Procedure 21c and 76a. Those rules concern official custodians; they do not turn this private website into a records office.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate search boxes that appear on Dallas County Court Docket. Information submitted through a tool is processed under that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices. We do not control those practices. Review the partner's policy before entering a query, especially when the information is sensitive.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Dallas County clerk offices, Texas courts, official case portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Read its policy before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing occurs on systems they control, subject to their own notices and choices.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to these recipients when needed for their stated function:
- Search partners processing a query you submit
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving advertisements
- Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use commonly accepted safeguards for information within our control. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, and no security method eliminates every risk. We work to reduce unauthorized access and misuse, but we cannot promise that a breach or service failure will never occur.
Users Under 18
Dallas County Court Docket is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If we learn that a minor submitted such information, we will take reasonable steps to remove it.
Your Data Rights
Rights may depend on the law that applies to you and the kind of data involved. Texas judiciary access rules, including Government Code § 552.0035 and the Rule 12 distinction, govern requests directed to Texas judicial custodians, not visitor-account rights on this private website. Subject to applicable privacy and consumer-protection law, you may be able to:
- Request a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion when the law permits it
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
Updates to This Policy
We may revise this privacy policy as our practices, services, or legal duties change. A revised policy will appear here with a new effective date. Reviewing the current version is the best way to see which terms apply.
